BEST SIMULATION GAME: TRAINING OF BUSINESS MANAGERS

1. The simulation game trains the business manager in the following areas:

* understand the dynamics of the business
* how price and marketing affect the market share
* how to read the economic trends and factor into the business strategy
* how to anticipate the decision of the competitors
* how to work closely with members of the team (and delegate the work)

2. Rotate the role of chief executive

It is useful for the role of chief executive to be rotated among the team members for each virtual year. This allows each participant to have the chance to take the lead, and to make the final decision (after hearing the views of the other members).

By adopting different strategies (due to the change of chief executive), the team will have the chance to learn about how the different strategy impact on the business results.

3. Play many rounds of simulation games

To gain the best results, the participant should play several rounds of the business simulation game on different days. Each round comprise of 5 to 7 virtual years.

For each round, a different scenario should be selected (eg high, moderate or low growth; high, moderate or low inflation). This will give the participant the chance of learning the business dynamics under different economic settings.

It is preferable to have different members to form the team in each round. This allows the participant to interact with different people.

4. Different levels of the simulation game

At present, the business simulation game is developed at the entry level. This level has fewer variables and is intended to make it easier for the participants to learn the basic elements of the competitive market.

An advanced level of the simulation game will be developed. It will contain more variables and will be suitable for participants who have played the several rounds of the game at the basic level.
